The Story
Becky's Barn was a classic example of the 'Mail Pouch' barns that advertised products to passing motorists. Located along Route 66, the barn featured painted advertisements and became a landmark for travelers.
Though the barn has been demolished, it represents the uniquely American tradition of using barns as billboards - a practice that defined the Route 66 landscape. Traveling sign painters would offer farmers free paint or small payments in exchange for advertising space on their barns.
