The Story
Housed in Pontiac's former fire station, this is the most comprehensive collection of Route 66 artifacts in Illinois. Founded by Bob Waldmire - son of Cozy Dog inventor Ed Waldmire - the museum displays vintage signs, photographs, postcards, and memorabilia documenting the highway's history.
Bob Waldmire's Volkswagen bus and his artistic maps of Route 66 became so iconic that Pixar based the character Fillmore in the movie 'Cars' on him and his vehicle.
