The Story
One of the oldest buildings in Georgia, this structure served as a tavern for seafarers visiting the Trustees Garden area. Sailors were reportedly shanghaied through a tunnel from the tavern's rum cellar to ships waiting on the Savannah River. Robert Louis Stevenson referenced it in Treasure Island.
