The story
The Grand Ole Opry moved into the Dixie Tabernacle, a religious revival house at 410 Fatherland Street in East Nashville, on June 13, 1936. There were no dressing rooms, and National Life and Accident Insurance salesmen handed out the first advance tickets to drum up business. The show moved downtown to the 2,200-seat War Memorial Auditorium in July 1939.
