The story

925 Gilmore Avenue is one of the early 20th-century residential buildings that define Nashville's 12 South neighborhood. The two-story structure features the architectural character typical of the area—high ceilings, hardwood floors, and period detailing consistent with the Craftsman and Victorian homes that emerged in the neighborhood in the early 1900s. The neighborhood itself began as rural farmland with scattered estates in the late 1800s, but grew rapidly after the expansion of Nashville's streetcar system around 1900. By the 1920s through 1940s, 12 South had developed into a working-class residential neighborhood with a commercial core along 12th Avenue South. The building has been subdivided into residential apartments, reflecting the broader conversion pattern of historic single-family homes throughout the neighborhood. Like many properties in 12 South, it sits within a historic overlay that now protects over 800 homes in the area.
