The story
The Palace on Elm Street opened on June 11, 1921, with Gareth Hughes in Sentimental Tommy. It was the third theater of that name on the street. Thomas White Lamb was the architect.
It began as an independent house. Paramount-Publix took it over in 1927 and Interstate Theatres in 1930, and by 1941 Paramount Pictures operated it through a subsidiary. It closed on December 3, 1970, with Anthony Quinn in Flap, also called The Last Warrior. It was demolished on December 14, 1970, shortly after, and an office tower was later built on the site.
