The story
Otto Mileti planned a dinner club at the southeast corner of 300 South and West Temple. The musicians hired to play during dinner drew the crowds, and he later removed half the bar to make room for a dance floor. He said the building was made to be a live music venue.
It held about 350 people, with a stage near the entrance, a balcony and a second bar. Over roughly 20 years it ran thousands of shows. Morrissey, Warren Zevon, Sheryl Crow, Ben Folds, Cheap Trick, Emmylou Harris and Robert Palmer all played there. The local Disco Drippers worked one weekend a month for about 10 years. Palmer commanded the top ticket price, $30. In 2003 Mileti's lease ended. He tried to buy the property from Zions Bank for $1 million, the deal fell through, and the club closed. The empty building decayed for years before it was knocked down.
What's There Now
Fox 13 reported the building was leveled and no development plans were announced for the lot.
