The story
The McCrory Building at 101 South Orange Avenue was an Art Moderne structure with parts from an 1888 building. The J. G. Stores Corporation constructed it in 1942. McCrory operated its store and headquarters at this location until 1989. An Orlando Sentinel story from August 17, 1989, was titled "McCrory's Must Exit Downtown."
The building was demolished in 2003. RICHES has photos of the demolition and labels it the Woolworth-McCrory Building, but the page does not spell out Woolworth's role at the address. The two chains, Woolworth's and McCrory's, were both five-and-dime store companies, established in 1879 and 1882 respectively.
What's There Now
The sources I opened do not say what replaced it.
