The story

Le Coq au Vin opened in 1976 on South Orange Avenue and stayed at the same location until it closed. Chef-owner Reimund Pitz ran it, with credit also given to earlier chef-owner Louis Perrotte. It won Orlando Weekly's Best French Restaurant award in 2020, 2021 and 2022, and in many years before that.

In a 2018 review, critic Faiyaz Kara called it the grande dame of classique cuisine and praised Pitz and Perrotte for mentoring young chefs and for their involvement with the American Culinary Federation. It closed in May 2023 after a final Saturday dinner service. Pitz cited rising food costs and pandemic-related declines. The sale of the property was confirmed that weekend. Cafe de France on Park Avenue had closed the previous year, leaving Orlando with fewer French options.

The property was sold in 2023; current use was not confirmed.
