The story

Michelotti and Alfredo Federighi, nicknamed "Georgetti" after a famous Italian cyclist, opened at 500 N. Franklin Street in 1941 with Alfredo in the kitchen and Gene at the bar. Frank Sinatra, Bob Hope and generations of politicians ate in the wood-paneled rooms. Alfredo died in 1969 and Gene ran it alone until his death in 1989; granddaughter Michelle Durpetti and her family run it today. A grease fire in October 2019 closed it for repairs.
