The Story
In 1988 Dave Iversen opened the Broken Spoke on a former lumberyard just off Main Street. Unlike the tightly packed Main Street storefronts, the Spoke had a larger footprint and an interior courtyard — where lumber had once been stored — that riders could pull motorcycles directly into. Jay Allen bought it in the early 1990s and expanded the Broken Spoke brand to other events and a second "Sturgis County Line" location on Highway 79.
