The Story
This 1840 Greek Revival courthouse is where Abraham Lincoln practiced law on the Eighth Judicial Circuit from 1840-1847. The building predates Route 66 by 86 years but became part of the highway's story when Route 66 was aligned past it.
It's now the only Illinois state historic site directly on Route 66, connecting America's favorite highway with its 16th president.
