The Story
This 1906 Chicago streetcar served riders until 1932, when it was converted into a roadside diner. Placed along Route 66 in Gardner, it became a beloved stop for highway travelers.
The streetcar-turned-diner was restored in the 2000s and now sits as a photo opportunity and historic landmark. The distinctive green and cream paint scheme echoes its Chicago transit origins.
