The Story
Built in 1906, this tiny limestone jail measures just 12 feet by 12 feet and contains two cells. During Route 66's heyday, it primarily held travelers who were caught speeding through town.
The jail was in active use until 1950 and has been preserved as a quirky Route 66 attraction. Located next to the Streetcar Diner, the two landmarks make Gardner a double-feature stop.
