The story
Marilyn Monroe purchased this modest Spanish Colonial hacienda in early 1962 - the only home she ever owned. She was found dead in her bedroom on August 4, 1962, with a phone in her hand and empty pill bottles nearby. She was 36.
The official ruling was "probable suicide," but questions have never stopped. Was it the Kennedys? The mob? Her psychiatrist? The timeline of that night has never been fully explained, and key evidence disappeared.
The house features a small pool, Mexican-style tiles, and the famous "Cursum Perficio" (I complete my journey) tile motto at the entrance - eerily prophetic given what would happen there.
What's There Now
Private residence. In 2024, the LA City Council voted to protect it as a historic landmark after the owners attempted demolition. Not visible from street - the address is behind a gate.
