The story

Built by Hiram Thurston in 1855 on land donated by Joel Wood, after the sidetrack went in, the wood-frame Chicago & North Western depot stood north of the tracks east of Brockway Street. It had oil lamps and separate waiting rooms for men and women, and for its first years the township government met in it. It served for 94 years until the 1949 station replaced it.
