The story

By the late 1940s The Dallas Morning News had opened a new office, newsroom and printing plant at Houston and Young Streets. The complex at 508 Young Street housed all or part of its operations for about six decades. The facade carries an etched quote attributed to G. B. Dealey: Build the news upon the rock of truth.

In late 2016 the paper announced it would leave for a much smaller building on Commerce Street, the former downtown library. It cited changing technology, fewer staff and presses no longer sharing a site with the newsroom. The move was completed by December 2017. The Young Street property was sold in October 2018 to a partnership exploring redevelopment, but that partnership backed out in December 2018.

The article does not say what has happened to the property since the 2018 sale fell through.
