The story
Reunion Arena opened on April 28, 1980, and its first concert was Parliament-Funkadelic on May 9. Queen filmed the video for Another One Bites the Dust there on August 9, 1980. The Dallas Mavericks played there from 1980 to 2001 and the Dallas Stars from 1993 to 2001, along with indoor soccer, arena football and other teams.
Ronald Reagan accepted his second-term nomination there during the 1984 Republican National Convention, and the building hosted the 1986 NCAA Final Four and NBA All-Star Game. Barack Obama held a campaign rally there on February 20, 2008, one of the last big events before closure. The arena closed on June 30, 2008. Demolition was completed on November 17, 2009, and the site was cleared by the end of that year.
What's There Now
The site is called Reunion Park and hosts events through the year, though the article says apartments are planned.
