The story
It opened in 1931 as the Frosty Morning Shop at Grand Central and Willow, selling orange drinks, sandwiches and food novelties, and was nicknamed the Big Orange Drive In that same year. It served customers in their cars around the clock and delivered by employees on Cushman scooters. A beer garden opened in the house next door.
In 1936 the carhops wore orange pants and white tops, the first uniform pants worn by women in Tampa, which had to be custom made. It gained a liquor license in 1935. For two years in the late 1930s a slot machine sat on site, since they were legal only briefly. After ownership changes in 1938 and 1954, the manager was fined in 1955 for selling liquor after hours, and the license was revoked in 1956. Records indicate it was demolished in 1957.
