The story

Goff's Drive-In opened in 1948 at 212 South Orange Blossom Trail, run by Edwin Goff. The stand served Black and white customers in the same line at the same walk-up window, despite warnings from others in town, and had one water fountain out front for everyone. The Goff family believes the KKK threw a firebomb at the building in 1951 because of that policy. An explosion that year caused a small fire and structural damage, and no one was hurt.

Bill Truesdell, who had worked for Goff as a teen, bought the stand in 1973. His grandson Todd Peacock later ran it. The stand outlasted hurricanes, 1960s protests and the pandemic. An alleged arson fire closed it in May 2022. A July reopening was delayed while the owners waited on city approval, and in December 2022 Peacock said it would not reopen at the Trail location.

Reports from December 2022 said the stand would not reopen at this location; current use was not confirmed.
