The story
The stadium opened in late 1936 as Orlando Stadium, with a capacity of 8,900. It has carried a run of names: Tangerine Bowl from 1947 to 1975, Citrus Bowl in 1976, Orlando Stadium again from 1977 to 1982, Florida Citrus Bowl from 1983 to 2013, and Orlando Citrus Bowl from 2014 to 2016. The first Tangerine Bowl game was played in 1947.
It was expanded in 1952, 1968, 1974 to 1976, and 1989. The upper deck added in the 1976 expansion drew criticism because it swayed during games. The stadium hosted five matches of the 1994 FIFA World Cup, Olympic soccer in 1996, WrestleMania XXIV in 2008 and WrestleMania 33 in 2017. Pink Floyd played here in 1988. The 2014 reconstruction demolished the lower bowl and kept the upper deck. That work also shortened the neighboring Tinker Field, which led to its demolition.
What's There Now
It is still a stadium, now called Camping World Stadium, hosting football, soccer and concerts.
