The story
Beefy King at 424 North Bumby Avenue, in Orlando's Milk District, says it has been serving sandwiches since 1968. It is a family business in which four generations have worked and owned the restaurant for more than five decades.
In June 2023 the restaurant held a 55th anniversary celebration from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., with cake, giveaways, cookies from 2 Smart Cookies and commemorative shirts. The drive-thru was closed for the day to reduce parking lot traffic. A 2018 story had covered its 50th anniversary. The Milk District takes its name from the old T.G. Lee dairy land that once surrounded Colonial Plaza nearby.
