The story
All Sports Stadium sat on the State Fairgrounds and was named for the All-Sports Association, a nonprofit that recruited amateur and collegiate events to Oklahoma City. It opened in 1961 and was primarily a baseball park, home of the Oklahoma City 89ers from 1962 to 1997. It also hosted Bedlam baseball between Oklahoma and Oklahoma State and the Big Eight tournament for more than twenty years.
It was a popular concert venue too. The Beach Boys played in 1984, 1985, 1986 and 1991, Jimmy Buffett in August 1985, Lilith Fair on July 1, 1998, and the Smashing Pumpkins on July 15, 1998. The 89ers moved to a downtown ballpark in 1998. A visitor said the stadium was in very poor condition in 2002, and a later visitor reported it was demolished in June 2005.
What's There Now
