The story
Harrington Manor opened at 16 S. Bothwell in 2000, the year Vicki and John Ruetsche relocated their home décor business from Wisconsin to Palatine. The shop specialized in seasonal home accessories—especially holiday decorations for Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas—along with small furniture, custom floral arrangements, artwork, and candles. Ruetsche, who grew up in downtown Palatine, also offered in-home design consulting. The business became a reliable destination for holiday shopping and year-round décor needs. In 2016, Harrington Manor opened a second location in a historic Tudor building at 25 W. Palatine Road. The original South Bothwell location eventually closed and was replaced by Bendita Cocina Argentinean Restaurant.
