The story
Despite its popular name, the manor predates the Potockis. It was built in 1826 for Zofia Skórska to a design by her own brother, the Lwów architect Piotr Signo — a classicist single-storey residence with alkierz corner wings, a pedimented central bay and a four-column east porch. Stanisław Potocki and Anna née Działyńska bought the Rymanów estate in 1872 and held it until 1945. They invested heavily in the town: cholera relief in 1873, a clinic inside the manor, a woodcarving school Anna founded here before it moved to Kraków, and a savings society and agricultural circle in 1874. On 16 August 1876 medicinal springs were found on their land, and between 1876 and 1881 they built the spa town of Rymanów-Zdrój 4 km to the south. The manor burned on 15 September 1944 in the bombardment of Rymanów, and was rebuilt shorter and simplified. It has housed the Rymanów Forest District since 1945 and was renovated in 2000.
