The story
After the 1800–1803 wooden church at Komańcza burned on 13 September 2006, Archbishop Adam (Dubec) announced it would be rebuilt. The reconstruction ran from 2008 to 2010 and followed the original form — three octagonal towers with blind lanterns and onion-shaped cupolas in the Lemko manner. The State Forests donated roughly 240 cubic metres of fir for the work: logs ten metres long and at least 50 cm in diameter, drawn from the Baligród, Komańcza and Rymanów forest districts. Metropolitan Sawa of Warsaw and All Poland consecrated the rebuilt church on 13–14 October 2010. It serves the Polish Autocephalous Orthodox Church. What stands today is a careful replacement rather than original fabric, and is best described that way. About 30 km southeast of Rymanów.
