The story
Recorded in 1494 as Targowska, Wróblik Szlachecki was one of a cluster of Lemko villages forming a Rusyn enclave among Polish settlements around Rymanów. Its wooden Greek Catholic cerkva of the Dormition went up in 1869 in the north-eastern Lemko manner — log construction, three-part plan, presbytery lower than the nave, a tower set into the front wall under a sheet-metal dome, and two small bell turrets on the gabled roof. Inside are flat painted ceilings, 1871 murals by an artist from nearby Jaśliska, and a partial iconostasis. It was restored in 1926, enlarged with a sacristy in 1946 when it passed to Roman Catholic use as the Church of the Sacred Heart, and restored again in 1980–81, entering the heritage register in 1985. The post-war years were violent in more than one direction here: Ukrainian nationalist units are recorded killing seven Poles in the village in 1945–46 and burning 120 by-then-empty Lemko farmsteads. About 4.5 km north of Rymanów.
