The story

The Colony Theatre on Park Avenue in Winter Park is a Streamline Moderne building. Cinema Treasures lists it as opening in 1939, but a commenter says it opened on February 29, 1940, with Wallace Beery in "The Man From Dakota." The Baby Grand, up the street, closed in 1940 when the Colony opened. The Colony was first operated by Sparks Theatres, later by Florida State Theaters, and last by ABC Florida State Theatres.

The Colony closed on September 28, 1975, with "On A Clear Day You Can See Forever." The building is now a Pottery Barn store. A commenter says it kept its original architectural design, while another comment implies the interior was gutted.
